Average money saved when building your own computer?

Computer manufacturers buy components in large quantities at discount prices. You will buy single units at normal prices. The cost of embling and testing the system is offset by the discounts. If you built a computer with the same components as a pre-built one, it would probably cost more. In addition you would have many hours of selecting components, embling and testing.
