Kitten acting like a hoover!?

My 6 month kitten is such a little scavenger constantly looking around the floor for things to eat which normally ends up in he being sick quite regular. especially when he eats play dough crumbs!lol He gets plenty of food and gets regular treatment for worms..is this normal behavior? Should have named him dyson!lol
