Why do people give their children weird names nowadays?

I don't like it when people take traditional names and change the spelling to make it look more trendy. Some are okay (like Elisabeth), but most of them look ridiculous. I like some names that are different, and some trendy names as well (like Nicole Ritchie's daughter, I really like that one) but for the most part, I prefer traditional names (I really like the ones you mentioned!) :)
